Power Bill estimator

The Power Bill Estimator is a tool to estimate how much the average electric bill will be for a given home. It is especially useful for those moving into a new home allowing for the proactive budgeting of family expenses. Knowing how much the electric bill may be, we can determine the ideal solar system size as well as the savings solar can bring.

Let’s do the math!

Add up the total points of your current or soon to come applicable utilities. Once you have your total, find your user rank (modest, average, or high) to check your recommended solar system size.

add your utility points

Family Size: 0.5 point per person

Air Condition & Electric Heater: 1 point per month of use (-0.5 points if home has attic fan)

Swimming Pool: 3.5 points (-0.5 points if you have an alternating pool pump)

Electric Vehicle: 4 points

Electric Appliances: 1 point per large appliance (Refrigerator, stove, oven, hot water heater)

Bitcoin Mining: 3 points

Botanical Heat Lamps: 3 points

Home Insulation: -0.5 points

Quality insulating windows: -1 point

total points

Modest Users = 2-4.5 points

Average Users = 5-7 points

High Users = 7.5-10 points

ESTIMATED UTILITY BILL

Modest Users = $60-150/month

Average Users = $150-$250/month

High Users = $250-$600/month

Recommended Solar System Size

Modest Users = 2.5 - 3.5 kW

Average Users = 3.5 - 6 kW

High Users = 6 - 10 kW
